How to wish a merry christmas and a happy new year

In our language corner, every issue we bring to you phrases that you can use in your everyday life in Switzerland. There are four official languages in Switzerland.

December is celebration time of the year. While you explore the Christmas Markets, shop for winter teas, warm woollens, schokolade and have some hot Glühwein, here are a few phrases that you can use to wish your friends and acquaintances – A merry Christmas and a happy new year! Pick the one depending on which part of Switzerland you live in or travelling to for your winter holiday! And we have a few extra phrase tips this time- for those of you who are getting crafty sending out those beautiful handmade greeting cards to your family and friends!
