Ma Anand Sheela was born Sheela Ambalal Patel in Baroda, Gujarat. She is well-known to the world as being Baba Rajneesh’s personal secretary between 1981 and 1985. After leaving the US, she married a Swiss citizen Urs Birnstiel, a fellow Rajneesh follower and moved to Switzerland.
