Rameshwarnath Kao also known as R. N. Kao was a former Indian spy and was the first to head India’s external intelligence agency (formed in 1968), the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He was also instrumental in setting up the National Security Guard (NSG) in the 1980s to counteract terrorism within the country.
