Our contributor Banu Balaji, took a day trip to Seealpsee. Here’s a look at the region through her lens.

Nestled in the Alpstein range of canton Appenzell Innerrhoden, Switzerland, Seealpsee is an ideal option for a weekend and also a day trip.

Seealpsee is easily reachable by public transport. Those who would like to hike to the region can take the cable car up to Ebenalp, and take a two hour trek from there to Seealpsee. The network of scenic routes around Ebenalp leading to  Seealpsee include landmark sights in the Appenzell Alps, such as the Wildkirchli and Säntis.

The large open air terrace at the Berggasthaus Forelle am Seealpsee, is perfect for a lunch or a snack break at the western end of the lake.
