Vantika Singh visited the restaurant ‘Tadka’ for a family dinner, and reviewed the restaurant for our readers.

The lovely patio accompanied with the pleasant summer breeze was perfect for our Sunday family dinner at The Indian restaurant Tadka. It is located right opposite to the Quellenstrasse tram stop in Zürich and is only four stops away from Tram 4 towards Bahnhof Altstetten from Zurich HB.

Food and Drink

We found the menu to be quite extensive with a wide variety of meat, poultry, fish, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes to choose from. We set off our dining experience with their blue signature drink – the Tadka Lemonade – the drink was well presented, eye-catching and refreshing !

What we would eat again

We were offered a generous variety of North Indian specialities in our main course along with bread and rice. Our favorites were the soft and flavorful Garlic Coriander Naan, Kadhai Paneer and Butter Chicken.

Service and Amenities

We were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner and his staff. Our table was also reserved at a nice spot at the centre of the patio. The place was buzzing with people of all age groups – locals and ex-pats – enjoying their meals along with the good service offered by the amicable staff.

The restaurant is in an old building so it is not wheelchair or stroller friendly but the staff is quite prompt and hands-on in helping the special needs customers and families with kids who need assistance. They make sure as a team that the customers are comfortably seated.

The restaurant is high on cleanliness and the decor is also quite colorful and traditional and reminds you of Rajasthan with embroidered wall hangings, pictures of camels, and men and women in local Rajasthani attires. The waiting time between food was also not long and the owner was quite attentive to our needs.

Overall, it was a relaxed, enjoyable, and a soul-satisfying dining experience. I would highly recommend it for all age groups especially, families with kids.
