Ishaan Parameswar, 8 years old
I really look forward to Thursdays at school when we have our TTG or Handarbeit class. My mom and I enjoy crafting together.
Since it’s the season of lights, lanterns and festivals – Diwali, Halloween and Räbelichtli, my mom and I decided to try making different candle holders.
Flat bead candle holder
Materials needed
- Clean jam jar
- Hot glue gun
- Flat beads
- Ribbon, paint, buttons (optional)
How to make it
- Connect the hot glue gun to warm up the glue
- Arrange the flat beads in the pattern you want to stick on the jar
- Glue the beads carefully (if you are under 7 years, ask for your parent’s help with the hot glue gun)
- Use a ribbon, paint or buttons on the top edge of the jar
Popsicle stick candle holder
Materials needed
- Popsicle sticks (colored or plain)
- Hot glue gun
- Paint (mom and I chose gold spray paint)
How to make it
- Paint popsicle sticks and wait for them to dry fully before you paint them or spray paint them in the end
- Connect the hot glue gun
- Place two popsicle sticks a little apart and add glue dots on the ends(if you are under 7 years, ask for your parent’s help with the hot glue gun)
- Stick two popsicle sticks on the opposite sides to complete a square shape
- Go on adding two popsicle sticks at a time to finish the square pattern until you have 7 or 8 squares stacked to look like this.
- At the bottom of the candle holder, you can stick a few popsicle sticks to join the opposite sides so the candle doesn’t fall out.
- Easy peasy! Light up candles in your candle holders and have fun!
